Delta puts award flights on sale. For reservations made between now and June 7, SkyMiles members can receive a discount on award flights for travel between August 23 and November 16. More than 8,000 routes are available for the discount, most of which are shorter flights. For example, a one-way ticket from Atlanta to Austin might normally cost 12,500 miles at the lowest level for one-way travel, but it is being offered for 7,500 miles with this promotion. No need to register, just log into delta.com to search for flights.

Alaska Airlines bonus miles for flying partners and new Japan Airlines tie up. Beginning June 29, Alaska Mileage Plan members can now earn and redeem miles for Japan Airlines flights thanks to a new codeshare agreement inked by the carriers. Plus, earn 1,000 bonus Mileage Plan miles for flying internationally on any Alaska partner airline between June 1 and September 15. Be sure to register by September 1. Alaska Airlines’ frequent flier program is becoming a popular option for travelers given that it is the only major U.S. airline loyalty program to hold out on going revenue-based. Fliers still earn valuable miles based upon distance flown.
United Global Premier Upgrades now good on ANA. United gives its 1K members global upgrade certificates that can be used on international flights booked in a certain fare bucket. Until now, they were only good for one-cabin upgrades on United, Lufthansa, and Copa flights. United is now offering the chance to use these upgrades on ANA flights thanks to a joint venture between the two airlines. To use these upgrades, call United to check availability and eligibility. Unlike Delta and American’s system-wide upgrades, United’s upgrade certificates are usually not applicable to the cheapest fares.
